Queen are a rock band formed in London in 1970. Their members were Freddie Mercury (vocals), Brian May (guitar), John Deacon (bass guitar) and Roger Taylor (drums). Queen played a lot of styles of music, but above all progressive rock and hard rock.
They released their first album named “Queen” in 1973; but in 1975 they released “A Night At The Opera“, and significantly the single “Bohemian Rhapsody“, which became one of the greastest singles of the music history. With this album, they got their first platinum album.
In 1976 they released “A Day At The Races“, it was a huge success. The following year saw the band’s sixth album, and significantly the legendary double A side single, “We Will Rock You” and “We Are The Champions“.
The following Queen albums were “Jazz” (1978); their first live album, “Live Killers“(1979); and “The Game“(1980). By the end of this year Queen had sold over 45,000,000 albums worldwide.
In 1981 they were the first band to make a stadium tour of South America. And when they played to 131,000 people in Sao Paolo they achieved the largest paying audience of the history. Later in the same year, they released “Greatest Hits“, “Greatest Flix” and “Greatest Pix“.
Since Queen’s first days until 1991, they were a great band with a lot of good music; but in that year, Freddie Mercury announced he had AIDS, and on 24th November 1991 he died at this home, with his family and friends. On 20th April many of the world’s top stars joined Brian, Roger and John on stage at Wembley for an emotional tribute to Freddie.
