The river Rhône

The river Rhône is a river situated in France and Switzerland. It’s one of the longest rivers of Europe (its length is about 2,200 metres ).

The river rises as an affluent of the Rhône Glacier, in the Swiss Alps, and it divides into branches called the Great Rhône and the Little Rhône. Since the roman period it was an important trade route, but the navigation was difficult because in the spring and early summer the river has fierece courrents, when the ice was melting.
