J.K. Rowling

J.K. Rowling was born in Yate, England, on 31 July 1965 ans she’s a writer. Her original name is “Joanne Rowling”, but she’s best known as “J.K. Rowling”.

Her father, Peter James Rowling, was an aircraft engineer and her mother, Anne Rowling, was a science technician. They moved to Winterbourne when Rowling was four, and then to Church Cottage when she was nine.

She started writting when she was a child, she often wrote fantasy stories and she has read all Jessica Mitford’s books. She studied in Exeter University. As a postgraduate she moved to London and worked as a researcher at Amnesty International. After that, she taught English in Portugal.

She is famous for her saga of books, Harry Potter. The first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was published on 26 June 1997, and the last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was published on 21 July 2007.

The books were so popular that they went to the cinema quickly.
